If you own a wooden shed then you probably know how important it is to have everything in it well organized. Wooden sheds, by design, are relatively small and can therefore get filled up quite rapidly. If you have a new shed with nothing in it yet, now is the time to plan how you are going to organize it.
If you do happen to have a wooden shed that really needs to be organized, start by taking EVERYTHING out. This way its easier and faster to start from scratch. I suggest starting early in the morning and try to pick a fair-weather day. There are those of us who find it hard to throw anything away (as it might be important later on), but if its an item that never gets used and has no sentimental value, then just throw it out, donate, or sell them.
Once you have taken out all the unnecessary items, take some time to group like items. For instance, all your tools in one group, all your garden supplies in another group, and so on. Small items can now be placed in containers or bins that will go neatly on shelves. Make sure you label the outside of the containers to you can easily find what you are looking for later.
Once you are ready to really start putting everything back into the wooden shed, place the items you use more frequently more towards the front or on shelves about shoulder high. If you don’t already have one, purchase a good quality tool rack for long handled tools, like shovels, hoes, and rakes. Another great item to have in a wooden shed is a nice workbench. It doesn’t have to be fancy. The best kind has four sturdy legs in case you need to place heavy items on it or for hammering on. A simple wood shelf underneath is a great place to store your power tools, too.
